Callie and Mastocytosis

Callie went to a pediatric dermatologist earlier this week and he confirmed that she has mastocytosis. She has a skin biopsy scheduled for next Thursday to determine if it is cutaneous (just skin) or systemic (organ &/or blood) related. We also have an appt. with an allergist scheduled to see what may be triggering the reaction. She does not seem bothered by the spots on her torso, which is good. We'll learn more soon. For now, we're trying to just take it one step at a time and not worry needlessly.

Jonas 2.5 years

Jonas went in his for 2.5 year doctor's appointment. He is 25 lbs. (6%), 34" (8%). We're thankful he's finally on the growth chart for weight!! He is doing great in every way. His imagination has really taken off. He loves playing with his cars, legos and dinosaurs. His vocabulary has increased a lot. He is really able to express his thoughts and feelings well. He's also working on testing limits, but for the most part is pretty good at listening to us. He recently discovered that he can get out of his toddler bed on his own, and can have his own opinion :)

Jonas dress up

Jonas now has boy dress up clothes!! He no longer has to be a ballerina or princess (much to dad's relief :)

Christmas Baking

I had two assistant chefs this year for all of our Christmas baking. The highlight was decorating their own Christmas cookies. Of course, we had to sample some.

At home Christmas Play

Sara had so much fun doing the Christmas play at church that she directed one at home. Callie was an angel, Tobin was the star, I was Mary, Jon was Joseph and Jonas was in and out. It was fun to hear Sara's version of the Christmas story.

Christmas Play 2010

Sara sang with the angels in the Christmas play at our church. She did a great job picking up the hand motions. Jonas was a lamb. He didn't want to wear the costume because it was too hot, but thankfully he followed along wiht the other kids and put it on :)

Christmas 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas with our exteneded family. We are so blessed to have grandparents, aunts and uncles in the area to celebrate with. The kids loved the presents (of course :). We also acted out the story of Christmas (Jesus' birth) with our nativity scene on Christmas. Sara and Jonas thought that was pretty fun. Tobin and Callie had their first tea party :)

Starting Baby Food

Tobin and Callie started eating baby food on 12/10. Tobin is a pro at opening his mouth, lunges for the food and eats lots. Callie seems to be much more selective. So far, she has only done this for the applesauce. They've had carrots, baby cereal (rice) and love the applesauce. Meal time just got very interesting!

Callie and Tobin 6 months old

Callie and Tobin turned 6 months old in Florida. While there, Callie mastered rolling over and sleeping through the night (one of mom's favorites:). Tobin started rolling over more and "talking". Tobin sounds like he is really trying to talk. They both are sleeping more consistently for a morning and afternoon nap and a short evening nap. There is also lots of drooling. Tobin got his first tooth on 12/14!

The Kindness of Strangers

Taking four small children to the beach is a lot like moving :) When we got to the beach, we had to set up a tent and all of our stuff. One day, two women came over and offered to help. They set up our tent. And later held a crying baby so I could get the other one to sleep, and Jon could keep the 2 older kids from drowning in the ocean. We were really thankful for the help!

Jon's 31st

We celebrated Jon's birthday while in FL. Sara and Jonas had a fun time helping frost the cake and put in all the candles.

Florida 2010

We took a road trip to FL. We survived with 4 children in a van for 3 days each way. They all did an amazing job! The babies cried for about an hour total of the trip. Sara and Jonas watched tons of movies and the time went pretty quickly. We were ablet to stay in a great condo, enjoy the beach a few days and the pool. The kids love our time in FL. It's nice to just hang out and take it easy and enjoy being together. While there, we had to get a new transmission, but thankfully the warranty we bought with our used van covered the majority of it. We returned refreshed and ready to be home :)
